This summer, interestingly, I had a few clients that came up to me asking for financial advice. I happened to have connected with Ken Sutherland, who lives here at Lake Royale and owns Life Plan Group. I have recommended a few of my clients to him since I am not licensed to do so. But, I found out later on, his ideal client was one that can invest at least a million dollar. I thought to myself, well even I personally won't qualify to be his client as I am also in search for further financial advice. I have also spoken with Edelman Financials and they also require a minimum of $100 000. I knew then I have to do something not only for myself but for my clients. I posted in my Facebook tax group to find out how common it was for tax preparers to also have financial advisor licenses. As it turns out, it is common and someone in the group invited me to an informational webinar with Primerica, which video was very attractive and appealed to the opportunity of educating families on financial journey. I knew right there that I would like to do so. Immediately the following day, I was on zoom with Randi Schreiber (the agent who invited me to a webinar) and Mark Spina (RVP). I signed up and paid $49 background check fee and $25 on a monthly subscription on their portal. In return, they pay for my federal and state licenses.
By the 3rd week of September, I studied Life insurance and passed the course and got my license. Then I took the Health Insurance course, passed it but decided not to take the license as in Primerica, they don't actually let agents sell this product but rather we can refer instead so there was no need for license. I then took the SIE, Securities Investment Exam, as a pre qualifier for Financial Advisor Rep License. I passed that too after 3 weeks. Then I started the following requirement, Series 6 and then after that Series 63. By End of November, I have finished all the 3 exams and was awarded my Financial Advisor Rep license early December.
December 7, 2021 @ 6 pm, I took the over 3 hour Real Estate course and passed it too. Although I took the course back in September, because of family vacation and getting excited on the SIE course and timing it for tax planning to have my financial license first before the year end was the reason for delaying the real estate test. I am ever so thankful that I passed it. It was a heavy course. Link to my facebook post below.
